People told me that having an infant led to tons of television watching but I could never imagine how much television watching. We are wearing out our Netflix subscription like never before.
Come to think of it, what else can one do between feedings and diaper changes? One’s brain is still on the fritz, so reading is not happening. So television it is.
It’s a good thing a new season of House of Cards is approaching.
Can’t even imagine what life with an infant was like before 24/7 television – I think I would have gone mad and chucked the baby out of a window 😉

My husband watched the entire series Lost when our second kid was an infant. Second kid would cry at night, even after a feeding. Husband would sit with him in the recliner while baby settled down and slept, and hubby would watch TV and let me sleep. It was great. I mean, sleepless but great.

Yes, I remember that, especially not being able to read, it required too much concentration. My mum says she used to listen to the radio all the time, we never had a TV in the house until I was seven.

Oh yeah. The breastfeeding and sleep deprivation do a number (temporary, thankfully) on one’s cognitive abilities. Taking care of newborns is a wonderful gift and all that, but it’s also exhausting and can get boring as all $hit. Thank god for Netflix. You can also get Amazon Prime for some viewing variety.

Is it only Netflix you bother watching, or regular telly as well?
If the latter, what’s regular TV actually like in the States? (compared to, say, the UK).
Did you have a TV growing up in the soviet Union and if so, what was that like?
