When students send me emails in which they refer to Klara as “a bundle of joy”, I have to battle the temptation to slip into the sour teacher mode and start repeating my lecture about the use of clichés.
I miss teaching.

Aww. If your students get too idiosyncratic with baby epithets, they run the risk of puzzling or annoying you.

After a colleague shared with me how she’d accidentally snipped off part of her baby’s finger, there’s no chance I’ll be trying to do it. I’m using a baby nail file. Not very successfully, by the way.
