And on the subject of infantile male voices, have you, folks, noticed how many trending songs are delivered by adult men imitating a childish lisp?
There is this hugely popular “Once I was 7 years old” by the Danish Lukas something. The lyrics and the music are okay but what’s with the obnoxious accent? I understand the fellow is Danish but Danes don’t speak English in voices of underdeveloped 3-year-olds.
And then there is the equally popular “My mamma don’t like you and she likes everyone.” I understand it’s Justin Bieber and infantility is his whole thing but, God, how annoying.
Music sucks.
Maybe there’s something about this historical moment that’s producing so many hit songs in which the men want to crawl back to childhood? Or maybe since you are currently parenting an actual infant, man children annoy you more than usual?
More hate listening:
Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days,
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out.
I notice a lot of acts sound like throwbacks. Adele, Post Modern Jukebox,, thatJustin Timberlake song that tries to be Stevie Wonder but sounds like an ad for the electric company, a lot of Bruno Mars songs…etc. The Billboard charts are filled with a singer who had his popular heyday….20 years ago

I think by most counts, popular music essentially died by the early 1990s and has been rehashing already used topics and formats since then.

I think so too but I always wonder if it’s just my problem.

Yes!!! That one, too. Grrr.
I’m from the USSR, I detest infantile men. They are thick on the ground where I’m from.
