Clinton in her foreign policy speech: “We should try to find common ground with Russia when we can.” Even as a talking point it’s not funny. Putin will hear it as, “My strategy to get Americans to rule the world together is working! They are ready to look for common ground! Let me invade some more to convince Americans completely.” One has to be very careful with what message one sends to Russians.
She referred to Putin as “a tyrant”, at least, so that’s good.
At first, I thought it was an ad for my hair ties. . .

I was watching Wimbledon tennis championships a few years ago. It was very windy and that made it difficult for the players. The (american) commentators on TV asked the camera people if they could show a shot of a flag fluttering in the wind to show how bad the playing conditions were, and to my absolute delight they couldn’t find one flag on the entire property that houses the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. That place is the mecca of tennis and a huge point of pride for the English people. But not one flag.
Such a contrast with the US, where you have 100 ft poles with giant flags at gas stations.
Though the english have their own way of expressing nationalism. Just look at all the pomp surrounding royal ceremonies.
