Amazon gave me $250 in “Apple ebooks anti-trust settlement.” What’s up with that, does anyone know? I don’t mind an extra $250 in books, of course. It will be almost like having book money from my university – something I never had and clearly never will at this school.

It looks like various distributers of ebooks illegally conspired to keep prices high instead of trying to underbid each other to compete for customers, and now they’re being forced to reimburse customers for the extra money they paid.

When that class-action lawsuit started, you SHOULD have gotten notification (usually sent via e-mail) that you (Clarissa) would automatically be included in the suit due to your past purchases unless you sent specific instructions to have your name removed. (Some people elect to opt-out from class-action lawsuits because they plan on filing a separate lawsuit of their own.)

Fine, but by accepting the $250 you forfeited your chance to sue Apple e-books directly for emotional pain and suffering — probably worth a lot more than 250 bucks.
Or maybe there are no good lawyers where you live, either.
