I am so damn tired of turning on the news and hearing the stupid meme about Hillary sitting it out, not doing anything, and basing her whole campaign on waiting for Trump to screw up. She keeps releasing one detailed, thought out and crucial programmatic document after another. The most recent one was on mental health care.
But no, for these stupid ass journalists doing something can only mean “saying some outlandish shit they can mull over for hours on their stupid shows.” Dumb fucks.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. Also, I am so incredibly tired of hearing abou the supposed e-mail “scandal.” It’s an absolutely ludicrous non-story–and she was cleared of wrong doing. How did this non-story blow up so much? It’s maddening.

She had not be cleared of wrongdroing, she was cleared to be prosecuted. She violated some laws involuntarily and she is not charged because of her status, like many politicians before.
But I agree that it should be a story as big as it is right now. But, in politics like in job markets, content and skills almost don’t matter at all. This is especially the case when the main theme of this electoral campaign is “Crooked Hillary vs Bigot Trump”.

I don’t know what she says, but she’s been spending a lot of time with the people that like to employ undocumented immigrants as cheap servants who aren’t very aware of their rights. My guess is that despite whatever she says she’ll pursue mass low-skilled immigration forever.

No, it isn’t. The overwhelming majority of his supporters say they know he won’t build the famous wall.
They like him because he entertains. How much truth is behind his promises is of no interest to anybody.

I said “on real issues”. However, I agree that his main global asset is to be entertaining and that he will not build (maybe partially) the wall as promised.
Anyway, I think Clinton should come up with another thing in immigration than “Leave the situation like it is right now”.

One thing I hope for in terms of immigration is that the stupid lottery program will finally be canceled.
As for illegal immigrants, as I keep saying, the greatest problem is not those who want to stay but those who want to leave. And they are a majority. In Dreamland, it is shown very well how crowds of young men come over from Mexico to sell drugs and go back home with the money. And even those who come to make money in non-criminal ways don’t behave the same as people who want to make their home here.

Among many interesting things it mentions that almost all the immigrants she spoke to intended to work for a short time and go home, but a number of factors kick in (f ex: it’s far more dangerous to cross into Mexico than into the US) and tend to prolong their stays until there’s not much to go home to.
Part of the problem is that Americans think of immigration as an all or nothing proposition. I think there’s nothing wrong with the idea of temporary workers who are allowed to work for a time and then return home (I have students that often do that over the summer either in Europe somehwere or the US).
Another student who told me that his father had worked seasonally in Germany for years and he had done so a few times in England. They never thought of themselves as immigrants (not should they).
The current system though is just incredibly fucked up and depending on an endless supply of servile, cheap labor is no way to run an economy or healthy society.
