The Nobel committee can’t find Dylan to inform him of the prize. The fellow is probably so addled that it will take them a decade to get through to him.

I’m not sure what the dictionary says, but it’s a favorite word of mine. I associate it with the South (I think I’ve only heard it from southerners). I associate it with either dementia or single-mindedness bordering on mania.
There’s also addlepated (suggesting inherent stupidity and/or massive wrongheadedness).
