Citizens

Just heard a fantastic speech Obama gave in NC today. If the darn citizens don’t come out to vote in droves even after that, then screw them. I don’t know what else people need to go and vote and make this thing go away already.

  1. Well, lady, this citizen has already voted — a week ago, by Arizona mail-in ballot. Somehow I managed to refrain from casting a vote against the candidate who’s making history by being the only person in history to run for President while she’s under criminal investigation by the FBI. That’s because the alternative seems marginally worse, a know-nothing buffoon preaching a platform of madness. But when I hear our current inept idiot of a President speak, and claim that voting for Hillary is a validation and continuation of his third term, I thank the fates that my all-important-vote has already been cast, and I can’t be talked out of it by any ramblings between now and next Tuesday.

So per your advice, I’ve already “[gone and voted in order to] make this thing go away already.”

But the monster of vicious politics isn’t going away for at least another five days, so don’t expect civility in the partisan posts on this website until them. Some of us can express political disagreement while maintaining an adult composure, but some of your readers can’t. So I’m fastening my seat belt and buckling in for what should be an interesting ride.

See you at the finish line in the 8th!

    1. Dreidel, you voted for Hillary after all! That’s so great! I’m very, very glad. I hear there is even a chance we might win Arizona, so good for you.

  2. Passive-aggressive butthurt Dreidel is the best Dreidel.

A few words on this idea of ‘civility’ used by conservatives. It’s based on something I read, but can’t recall where I read it.

In our current political discourse, especially on the internet, we have a certain class of people expressing the most inhumane, wretched thoughts and then demanding civility back in return. To be clear, it’s not because they are ultra-sensitive babies whose ears are prone to get corrupted by listening to the word ‘shit’. The bigger point is that these demands for civility work like a trojan horse, designed to normalize their wretched ideas, to bring them into acceptable bounds of political discourse. In other words, when they demand civility from you they’re demanding that you suppress your perfectly natural reaction of repulsion.

Even talking about things in respectful ways can make those things somewhat palatable, and that is what these people are counting on: making their insane thoughts part of an acceptable set of ideas or options.

So when Dreidel says nuke all muslims and make the sand glow in the middle east, the response is not to have a roundtable discussion about the options he just presented. Nope. The only decent response to that is ‘Fuck off, you’re insane’! The same goes for el who very respectfully asks ‘Should we just bomb Iran?’, or any number of jackoffs who just happened to have Michael Brown’s entire criminal history memorized, which of course justified his killing, or people who don’t know anything about biology or statistics but would love to talk to you about race and IQ.

To be fair, these guys don’t even want to convince you of their shit, but they know that once ‘race science’ (just one example) becomes part of academic or cultural discourse, that opens up a whole lot of other shit that can now be normalized.

So this is why Dreidel, who has no problems calling me a monkey worshipper, suddenly turns into a wilting flower when I call him a piece of shit, haha.

“Some of us can express political disagreement while maintaining an adult composure”

LOL the butturt. Dry your tears.

    1. Reading comprehension, Stringer Boy. Quote a line that shows me wilting or crying. You’re the clown who always makes emotional responses.

So did you ever follow through with my recommendation for anger management classes? You fiancee might appreciate it if you would.
