Looked at my newsfeed and realized that in 2020 Trump will be reelected in a landslide because Liberals will not be able to renounce the joy of flipping out (see here and here) over one tweet of his after another. Gosh, it’s so easy to bait these fools. The welfare system will be shredded to but from right under their asses while they explore the delights of cheap online outrage.

Ok, so what SHOULD people be paying attention to instead, and what would that look like to you?
For reasons of my health, I don’t follow OlestraCheeto on Twitter and I’m not going to watch the SOTU. I avoid news programs now (not that I was a fan). But at the same time, not living in a bubble means consuming a fair amount of nonsense news from various sources. Or talking to people who have. This is not to be confused with fake Facebook news which is what old Tumblr & email forwards & chain letters used to be.

At the risk of boring everybody to death, I want to repeat that unseating the Republican governors who are up for reelection in 2018 could and should be the priority. I don’t understand how the fact that a large state has been existing without a budget for years is less of a story than some dumb prostitute has to say about some dumb video of her boring son and his mental issues. I don’t care which of these creeps has autism, schizophrenia or Parkinson’s. I care that Rauner has closed the state program that was helping kids with autism in Illinois.
The alternative to Trump can’t be “OMG, what a scandal.” Let’s show people we can do something real that will improve their lives.

Pat Quinn will never be reelected but I liked him when he was governor. He was managing to dig the state out of the hole it was in. But that’s just my silly fantasy.

I think you might enjoy Scalzi’s post below, where he basically says to get our collective heads out of our a$$es and focus on “childproofing” the country, because Trump will be president and it will be bad, and we need to focus on actually saving what can be saved and fixing what can be fixed and most importantly on the 2018 midterm elections.

You’re right! Democrats, liberals, and independents are reacting to Trump’s election in a childish way. People are using his tweets as entertainment and distraction. Likewise, unfocused street protests are like schoolchildren on a playgrounds burning off their youthful energy during recess. Protests can be meaningful if they communicate a clear message or express specific demands and goals. Otherwise, it’s just a bunch of people playing in the street. And when protests become violent and destructive of property, they produce wrong kind of publicity. On the bright side, the effort to revitalize democratic minority in the house of representatives by choosing new and younger leadership makes sense to me.
