N suggested that I go to a resort while he stays with Klara. He’d love to go but he has no more vacation days. Of course, it’s great that he wants to do this for me but I won’t have a good time without him and Klara.

N is awesome! I’d say go alone for a few days. I think you will find it enjoyable, even though it might not seem like it right now. You probably don’t have a lot of time for yourself and a few days where you have no one but yourself to think about might be relaxing. That’s how I feel when I go to conferences. While I really miss my kids, it’s nice to be the only one whose needs need to be met for a little while.

I’m one of those crazy mammas, I miss her even when she sleeps. Us, elderly mammas, tend to be crazy this way. ☺ But I’m working on it.

Maybe you could go for a four-day weekend, and have two days by yourself, and then they could meet you Friday night. That might be the best of both worlds — time alone and time with the family.

That sounds like a good idea (if you can swing it). You get a break, N gets some time to bond with Klara by himself, and you get to have a mini-vacation as a family. Didn’t you say you wilted a couple of years ago because you didn’t take a vacation?

I’m going to Philadelphia in January for professional pursuits. So that will be like my mini vacation. I won’t feel guilty because it’s professional.
