I’m very much over people going on and on about how 2016 was THE WORST YEAR EVAH because we got a disappointing result in the election. We don’t get all that many years to live and dismissing a whole year just like that seems quite wasteful.

My 2016 was the best year of my life by far for obvious reasons. I finally have everything I wanted and more and have entered into a midlife crisis because I don’t know what else to want right now. I always make a wish when the clock strikes 12 at midnight on New Year’s night. It’s supposed to be a huge wish and it always comes true. And this year I don’t have a wish. It seems too early in my life to just rest on the laurels and not strive for anything new. I need to figure out where to go from here. 

We have a huge feast planned for tomorrow, and of course I’ll share pictures. Happy upcoming New Year and may you greet it with peace, hope and love of life.

    Yeah, 2016 hasn’t been a bad year for me at all — almost as good as 1968, which was one of the best years of my life.

    (Because I was in my second semester of medical school, and was succeeding quite well.)

    2016 has been uncommonly good for me in many ways. I think it was bad politically, but what else is new?

    I think people are upset to be losing their heroes this year. And yet, we can’t expect them to live forever, especially those with hardcore drug habits. I guess it helps that my one true hero has been dead for 400 years in 2016, so I’m not mourning for him.

    2016 was sad for me because of deaths of people I knew well and who were important parts of my past. However, this was by no means the worst year of my life.

    I think a lot of people just hook their grief into larger collective sadness?

    Quite apart from the awful Brexit and Trump, 2016 sucked for us because my husband has been ill since January and that led to a lot of stress for many months (he’s about 80% better now, thank goodness). But my little children (3 and 1) have been wonderful and I am looking forward a better 2017! I am glad that your 2016 was so good 🙂
