One of the organizers of the women’s anti-Trump protests said protesters will march because “women carry the family on our backs” and then ranted against sexist stereotypes.
This would all be less awkward if the protesters had any idea what goal they want to achieve with their protest.
AFAIK, the object is to demonstrate opposition to PEETUS in numbers. When’s the last time an elected president was so unpopular that he inspired marches the day after his inauguration?
Congress sees a golden opportunity to use him as a Cheeto colored distraction and rubber stamper, regardless of how long the dude is in office.

You ceded the right to call anyone an infant or childish the minute you voted for… that. Anyone who conducts himself in such a consistent fashion in public cannot use the “You are childish/immature” argument as an attack — ever. The Electoral Select has pissed away any residual respect the office itself holds by his conduct long before he stands to assume it. He has no dignity to offend.

Terms are 4 years, not 8. His #2 is likely to cut him off midstream, with Congress’s blessing. The only question is how long it will be before PEETUS’ unpredictability and obvious mental issues outweigh his usefulness as a rubber stamper & distraction. He would be very happy on CNN broadcasting along with Santorum.

I don’t know about anywhere else but here in Illinois and the neighboring Missouri I’m seeing zero increase in activity in preparation for the 2018 election. I’m afraid this will be just like Spain’s Indignados where they marched and protested massively for years only to elect the conservative party of austerity. Twice. These carnavalesque gestures never translate into anything. They only strengthen conservatism.

Yep. I think that’s the point. Big loud public protests are a venting mechanism for the frustrated and not really intended to change anything.
Those who do manage to change things do so by quietly working at the local level (like evangelicals began doing in the 1970s).

It really doesn’t have to be anything specific. At this point. People overcoming their inertia to actually go out in the streets is a massive, massive first step. For most of them it’ll be their first time. There they’ll connect with other sub-movements and campaigns, get on email lists, learn a little about activism.
For now the most important thing to do is to just get out there.
