Oh, that inevitable moment when you look at the book that’s about to go into print and realize it’s superficial, clumsy, repetitive, and needs to be tossed in the bin and rewritten from scratch.
I know the feeling — I have it after every paper or proposal. You need to leave the book be for several months until it’s out of your system and you’re more likely to appreciate it again.

So true. I only looked at it because the editors forced me to. 🙂 I knew the results wouldn’t be pretty.
And the editors are all, “are you sure this is the final final version?” Well, I used to be sure but I no longer am!
