Some people have an innate sense of which food is good for their bodies. I have the opposite talent. If you give me a long menu or place me in a huge buffet, I’ll instinctively pick the worst kind of garbage on offer. I’ve started checking my instinctive choices in an app, and it’s really funny. Whenever there’s crap on offer, I veer towards it.
Hello, my Soviet childhood.
Same here! East German childhood.

I did not have a Soviet childhood, but when I was a young child my mother decided to go completely “healthy” no meat, no sugar, no processed foods.
In my twenties my favorite foods were those individually wrapped pieces of processed cheese and chocolate frosting from a jar
I’m better now, but unhealthy junk food is still instinctively the best food to my brain.

No, I’m not crazy.
The best use of canned chocolate frosting (after just eating it straight from a jar) is putting it on a white bread sandwich with the least healthy peanut butter you can source. You can go for whole wheat bread and organic peanut butter if you want, but who are you kidding? You aren’t eating this for your health. The slices of processed cheese are for later, when you crave protein.
