Facebook is suggesting that I view a video explaining the amazing secret that helped Bruce Lee achieve great success and get everything he wanted in life. Given that Lee died at the age of 33 and I’m already over 40, I couldn’t imitate Lee’s life journey even if I really wanted to.
Few things are more ridiculous than targeted marketing.
So what about your Internet viewing history made Facebook think that you’d be interested in such a video?

I think all one needs to know to predict my lack of interest in the topic is my age and gender. They need to simplify their algorithms.

Well, every time I open your website, I get ads offering to refinance my mortgage (which I never had, paid cash for my house 20 years ago) — so the Internet doesn’t seem to know that much about me.
I never get old man ads, like for Viagra or hearing aids.

I always get ads for things I already bought. Like anybody would want another copy of the same book or an identical handbag.

Anytime after I’ve bought a trip I see tons of ads for the same destination, anytime I buy something I see lots of ads for it suggesting I might be interested….
