Whoever said you can’t teach beginner Spanish 100% in Spanish is wrong. Of course, half of the students drop out and go to the sections where little Spanish is spoken. But those who stay do amazing.

I was observing a beginner 2 course in Spanish and I kept checking if I was in the correct room because nobody spoke a word of Spanish 15 minutes in the class. It was surreal. Even yes and no were in English.

Why it’s like that in Spanish? Except in some pathetic cases in high school (secondaire in Québec), I’ve never heard about an English class taught partially in French.

As long as the drop out rate is accepted by the powers that be, it’s a great thing you are doing! Sounds like those who don’t actually want to be challenged have other places to go…
