Klara doesn’t understand the British pronunciation and refuses to listen to books on tapes narrated in it. But she’s perfectly fine with the West African pronunciation, even a very heavily accented one. I wish there were books recorded in it. Alternatively, maybe I should scare up a couple of British kids for her to play with.

How about the reverse, if you ever hear Americans or Brits or Australians speaking in Ukrainian/Russian?
My German and Italian friends used to tell me that whenever they heard ANYBODY (American, Brit, Aussie, etc.) whose native language was English speak German or Italian, they ALL had the same identical weird “English-based” accent.
