Instead of asking Trump why he didn’t build the wall, fire Fauci, put an end to the BLM riots, end the war in Ukraine, crack down on crime, battle homelessness, and stand up to COVID lockdowns, his “opponents” help him avoid having to answer these questions by turning him into a martyr of confused, silly indictments.

The Trump indictments are so idiotic, it almost looks like they are made that way on purpose. Almost being the operative word. I don’t expect complex, multistage planning from anyone involved.

    Clarissa, with all due respect I don’t think US military and intelligence classification designations are your forte.

    If Trump did in fact abscond with classified data that he was no longer supposed to have, then this is a serious matter. If nothing is done to him, then it’s saying that he is above the law and can do as he pleases; any low ranking schmuck would be in huge trouble if found with many boxes of classified documents. We cannot just turn a blind eye to former presidents getting away with crimes.

      From what I understand, Trump, Hillary, Biden and a whole troop of other people have been caught with classified documents they weren’t supposed to have. It seems to be a wide-ranging issue, and nobody seems to care much.

          Another issue is, what’s the rush? If it’s a legitimate legal case, why not bring it after the election? It looks hideous to do it right now.

            Bankers or lawyers who are careless with their clients’ confidential documents can be banned from practicing.

            I would assume that if Trump was found guilty, he could be banned from holding any office which requires a security clearance.

              That seems reasonable. And again: let’s prosecute ALL of them. Hillary email server? Prosecute. Obama crony deals? Prosecute. Biden P4P scandal? Prosecute. Trump document mishandling? Prosecute. Every former president, VP, cabinet member, and congressperson guilty of criminal activity in office? Prosecute.

              Prosecute, prosecute, prosecute. If we do a good enough job, the entire uniparty will be stripped of viable experienced political candidates and with any luck will either die and be replaced by something more representative, or will have to rebuild from the ground up with something more representative.

              Any way around it, the voting public wins.

              The whole purpose of this prosecution seems to be to prevent him from running for office, so yes. I agree that this is where this is pointing.

                The only people who should want to prevent him from running are Republicans.

                Democrats are gleeful at a prospect of another Trump run. The man is a political loser. He managed to tap a well of resentment and dislike for Hillary back in 2016, but that well is completely dry right now; he’s a known entity, people are tired of his never ending scandals, sloppiness, and his gimmicks old.

        The difference is that when asked to return the documents, Trump lied about them to his own lawyers and refused to return them.

          And Hillary deleted thousands of classified documents she wasn’t supposed to have. How is that better than “lying to lawyers”?

            You cannot let someone read the contents of a deleted email. People, like foreign agents, can see classified documents on paper when they’re stored improperly at Mar A Lago. The “refused to return them” part.
