Some of the best things are counterintuitive. Who could have thought that the cure for my life-long low energy in the mornings would consist of waking up while it was still dark outside?
I always thought I was miserable in the mornings because I’m a late sleeper and hate waking up. But it turns out that… I don’t even know what it turns out except that somehow waking up before sunrise has cured me.
I thrive in the absence of sunlight.

All along, the problem was that you are a vampire 😉

Totally. 🙂
It’s a sensory issue with bright light that I have. On cloudy, sunless days, I’m a different person. It sucks to be so dependent on weather events but it’s what it is for us sensory vampires. 🙂

Same here. Forcing myself to just wear sunglasses religiously has been life-changing.

I get very stressed out in the summer; I find the sunlight oppressive. When it’s rainy and gloomy like today, I am in heaven and have lots of energy even after minimal sleep.
I do the mornings with the kids and take them to school, and it helps to get up an hour before I have to be “on” for them. It’s less sleep for me, but that hour of solitude is priceless for my peace of mind.

I do the same! I get up an hour before I have to wake Klara, and it’s heavenly. It took a while to persuade my husband not to get up with me and try to give me company. I love him but it’s bloody torture to be companionable between 6 and 7 am.
