I agree that Hamas is a total whore, so no argument there.

When I read the title, I initially thought you referred to Hamas officially thanking UN for its today’s resolution. 🙂
One could also think of climate activists, including Tunberg, who yesterday 27.10.2023 stood near the Swedish parliament with signs like “Free Palestine” and “Stop the Holocaust.”
We are spoilt for choice. 🙂 🙂
Today in UN —
“120 votes in favor, 45 abstain and 14 – including Israel and the United States – vote no; Erdan says UN assembly protecting the murderers of babies”
Ukraine abstained.

What a crying shame, all of it.

Regarding Elon Musk, he was blamed by some for not providing Starlink to enable Ukrainian attack of Crimea. Supporters of Ukraine claimed he had a right to do that as a private entrepreneur and totally ignored that USA had to give Musk permission / order to do so first. Btw, the approach of “a businessman has the ultimate right, how is a nation state relevant in matters concerning national security, political decisions and war?” is extremely neoliberal.
Now pro-Palestinian activists ask Musk to provide Internet to Gaza, and I am glad entrepreneurs cannot enter war without permission of their nation states yet.
Cutting off Internet in Gaza is crucial for Israel since : “… the communication problems in Gaza are not only between Gaza and the outside world but also in communication within Gaza. It is difficult for them to understand where there were attacks, it is difficult for them to call the rescue forces, it is difficult to send documentation … Hamas’s ability to gather information and get a real picture of the situation from the ground was also damaged.”
Btw, Elon Musk says X will be ‘full fledged’ dating app in 2024. Last year he wanted to turn X into a bank.

IINM after the Crimean thing came to light he was relieved of control of Starlink in Ukraine by the US government… (there was a polite memo to that effect that probably involved the government reading him the riot act).

I am shocked:
Musk tweeted: “Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza….We will support the UN and other internationally recognized aid groups”
As somebody on Israeli telegram channel said: “Someone should tell the genius before it’s too late that all Hamas personnel are employed in UN structures. These structures in the Strip have long ago become a front for Hamas. As soon as Musk gives contact to these organizations, terrorists will immediately have it.”
I refuse to let our soldiers die because Musk wants to play the role of a goody. 😦 furious
The title of your post, Clarissa, seems more suitable than ever.
Just this morning I wondered whether Russia would’ve had the right to assassinate Musk as a combatant, had he given support to attack in Crimea. Imo, yes, even if America and those urging Musk to help Ukraine wouldn’t recognize that.
I hope somebody in USA will stop him.
Israel needs this fog of war for military (destroying Hamas communications), security and public opinion purposes. Lack of data from Gaza and Israeli announcements of only limited operation help prevent Arab uprising in the West Bank, and so far lets those threats to remain only words: “Iran threatens Hezbollah willing to open second front if Israel moves on Gaza.”
By “helping” “aid” orgs, Musk is liable to have the entire Middle East burning. Unfortunately, I am not exaggerating.
Do you agree? Why doesn’t Musk see that?
Btw, “Hamas holds close to a million liters of fuel and has armament and supplies to last for up to 4 months of fighting while hospitals, aids groups including UN agencies, decry shortages”

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying for years about the institutions of the nation-state being privatized. We kept going about how the government is slow, stupid, unwieldy, too bureaucratic. For some reason, we assumed that whatever came next would be better. But what came next is 3 or 4 mercurial, smug mega rich fools who play war and genocide like it’s an entertaining game to enhance their brand.
This is the post-national order I keep talking about.
You ask if Russia would have had the right. But who grants rights? Who confers and defends rights? We are way, way past anything like international order, treaties, etc. Everybody who can, does.
Musk sees that very well. He can do whatever he wants on a gigantic scale. It’s fun, it’s flattering, it enhances his brand, so why not?
The other day Musk tweeted out that there should be no nations. And it’s clear why he thinks that.

The cherry on top of the cake is that Netanyahu was extremely happy to meet and have an “attended livestream event” with Elon Musk just a month ago on 18.09.2023 .
“Netanyahu talks to Elon Musk in California about antisemitism on X and artificial intelligence … The freestyle conversation, which included jokes from both men.” 😦 😦
Our Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi promised to fight Musk’s decision “HAMAS will use it for terrorist activities. There is no doubt about it, we know it, and musk knows it. HAMAS is ISIS.” Do you want to guess where he posted this? On social media platform X.
Today Musk posted another present to Israel. At first, I thought it was a Russian fake, but then saw the original.

Musk only cares about his brand. And his grand is being a contrarian. So whatever he sees as the mainstream position, he’ll say the exact opposite. There’s absolutely nothing else behind it. He’s trying to look original and different because that’s his brand.

The irony lies in those “rich fools” relying on the still existing old order of relationships between states to prevent them from being assassinated. Israel killed Iranian nuclear scientists and would kill anyone in Iran or Gaza who would present such danger to our state. However, since Musk is an American citizen, he is protected.
I also don’t think those people are fools. They know very well whom it’s safe to attack. I do not believe Musk would want to take initiative to do something against Hamas or Russia, since those agents don’t care whom they poison / stab …

I don’t think Musk has been sober in years. He’s clearly a pothead, and beyond rational considerations.
Besides, he didn’t need to put himself into this story at all. It is a daily choice he makes to insert himself as the main actor into these situations.
