Why I Won’t Vote for Trump

As things stand now, if it comes down to Biden vs Trump in the election, I’m voting for Biden.

Here’s why.

Both project weakness internationally.

Both inflicted measures that led to inflation.

Both are unwilling to stop mass migration.

So on these issues – immigration, economy, foreign policy – I’m not seeing much of a difference.

But on one issue that matters to me a lot Biden is clearly better.

That issue is wokeness.

There have been no woke riots with Biden of the kind that Trump allowed to run unchecked in the summer of 2020. When the far-left wing in Congress tried to go against Ukraine, Biden shut that down immediately. Whenever they pipe down on anything, he shuts them down. When was the last time we even mentioned AOC or that lady who married her brother? Not in years because they are irrelevant.

People seem to think that the Claudine Gay thing was a major victory against wokeness. OK, and who’s president when it happened? Who was president when zero such victories happened?

We keep saying that the only thing that the Left has against Trump is “mean tweets.” But you know why it’s the only thing they have against him? Because he never did anything else. If he adopted some seriously conservative measures, we’d never stop hearing about them from the Left. The Left called Obama “deporter in chief.” You know why? Because Obama deported more than Trump. For reals, Trump was worse on immigration than Obama. (But massively better than Obama on everything else, which is why if Trump were running against Obama, I’d 100% go with him).

My rational self-interest tells me to go with the no-riot guy. Of course, things can still change. I’m repelled by partisanship, so I’ll change happily if there’s a reason to do that.

    Or do what I do, vote for Cthulhu in elections. I’m not kidding, I’d rather vote for a man-eating sea monster than most politicians. If Biden wins, he’ll keep fucking shit up. If Trump wins, he’ll keep fucking shit up and the wokesters will riot, pardon my French. This way, I won’t get blamed no matter who the president is, this is why I’m a registered Independent.

      Cthulhu: Why settle for some lesser evil?

      This may be yet another election where I show up at the polls for the local elections, and cast my presidential vote for Weird Al Yankovic.

        Weird Al is a better candidate than many politicians out there, I hate how every election cycle people lose their minds. It seems as though every election cycle people think that if their candidate loses, it’s the end of the world.

        After every election cycle, my life goes on, I go to work during the week, church and and teaching my Sunday school class on Sunday and watch my DVD collection and listen to my music. This sort of hyperbolic attitude towards politics is annoying and ignorant, most people get on with life and don’t think it’s the end of the world after the election

          The weirdest part is that people put all their focus on the top official up for election. Like the president is the only office that matters? No! Your county sheriff has a much, much larger influence on what life is like where you life. That is possibly the most important vote you can cast. Your local judges are also really important. Do you even know anything about them? If the last few years have shown us anything, it’s that your state governor and state legislators are more important than anybody running for a federal office of any kind. Your local school board needs to be monitored carefully. IMO we should all turn the voting hierarchy upside-down, and put the most research and effort into the local-est offices, and the least into the big national races.

            Yes! Being able to vote in local elections was the main reason I recently became a citizen. Of course, I am excited to vote in the presidential election too, but – being in California – it’s not like my vote there will make much difference. But the school board, the sheriff (our last one was a corrupt a-hole), and even the local library board (some weird shit went down there) … these are all highly relevant and important to me.

    I’m not sure that’s a good argument. You only riot in opposition to the existing system. No riots under Biden because the would-be rioters (BLMers, antifa, and other assorted lefties) are perfectly aligned with the Biden administration. Why would they riot?

    So, ready to cross the floor to vote with Oswald Mosley? 🙂

    As far as my future role in political office goes, no more turkey in everyone’s pots.

    Instead, there will be more gators, which will be a protected species, and any lawyers you find in their bellies, which will not be a protected species, will be fair eating.

    Similarly, past or present gang membership will confer the privilege of being part of the Florida Alliance’s annual hunt as the trophy game of honour. 🙂

    Naturally, British English will be formalised as the national language, much to the approval of the native Florida Crackers, who will then have the privilege and luxury of looking down their noses at the invading North American Continental hordes that much more intensely.

    All of this will be part of my political manifesto titled “How Florida Can Eat Our Way Out of Poverty, Invasion, and Crime”, part of a multi-part series that includes the popular political rant, “Make Valdosta Florida Again”.
