And the title of the idiot of the week goes to John Kerry. Here’s what he came up with on the subject of the most destructive war in Europe since 1945:
“I believe that Russia has the ability to be able to make enormous changes if it really wanted to,” Kerry continued. “I mean, if Russia has the ability to wage a war illegally and invade another country, they ought to be able to find the effort to be responsible on the climate issue.”

How did it happen that we put so many unintelligent, incoherent people in positions of power?

Those who grew up under Communism may remember how hard it is to distinguish idiocy from party propaganda. Often the leadership are not speaking to us, they’re speaking to lower-tier apparatchik. To the extent that they speak to the proletariat, it’s more of the same, or a way of rooting out the wreckers, or braggadocio. “See, this you must pretend to believe”. Malice is the wine of Hell.
On the other hand, one could make a case that decades stewing in treachery, deceit, and depravity rots the native intelligence one was born with, as a strong man, say, can run to fat and decay.
Even Mr. Biden, who was no rocket scientist in his heyday, I remember having a truly shark-like cunning. Watch his debate with Mr. Ryan if you can find it. He’s smart enough to get the job done, even if he’s not fit for the intelligencia. His team won, by the by, and America’s is fighting a rear-guard action.
Which, interestingly enough, the current occupiers of the country seem to be terrified will be won. Encouraging.
