One Reason Gone

One large reason to vote for Biden in November was that there were no riots during his presidency. There are now riots, so that reason is gone.

      1. The stuff going on in NYC right now is not great, but I don’t think it has quite reached the level of a riot. It is certainly nothing like the scale of BLM in 2020.

            Three sscenarios….

one: riots worked for him in 2020 so why not go to that well again?

two: there’s a theory that the democrats want to lose to Trump (I don’t really believe it but… it’s out there) so riots always hurt the incumbent so start em up

three: he had no idea this would happen on and can’t control these riots

nb. when I write about the Biden administration I’m mostly writing about handlers/decision makers and not the befuddled old man hobbling around in public looking for his tennis dog… have you seen it? it’s a labrador with mahoganny handles, really fine…. I think I left it… craftmanship….

  1. Baby Reindeer 5 (here rather than original post): A few minutes in I start to relax because this seems like a breather episode after the intensity of the end of 3 and… all of 4.

Loved Keeley’s comment about the sugar content… (no she’s not empathetic but I like her).

I also like Teri. I get that she’s trying out crypto-therapy techniques on him but he’s too slippery. I have the idea she’d be a fun person to occasionally hang out with over a couple of drinks. In these surroundings that’s a big plus… and i do get her frustration with his inability to… perform, how much rejection of that kind can one person take? Especially one who’s also extremely insecure.

So… things are going along and I’m sure there won’t be anything too craz…. OH DEAR GOD! HE CAN’T GET IT UP FOR TERI UNLESS HE’S FANTASIZING ABOUT MARTHA!!!!!

I cannot get a break here…. at first I thought it was low key humor that he was really sort of… dismayed at the idea of Martha no longer hounding him and clearly wanting to ask the policewoman about her and see if she’s be a conduit between them (she’s his biggest fan! what performer wants to give that up?) and then we get the fantasy sequence….

I didn’t like the cliche of not picking up on the crucial phone call though I did like the cliche of Donny and Teri’s reflection… their brief happiness is all he can manage but it’s also a funhouse distortion.

    1. The person who wrote this show is talented. Whenever you settle down and think you know what’s going to happen… Something really different happens. I hope he keeps writing. He’s good.

I wouldn’t mind Terri if only he didn’t charge money as a therapist. That a person this messed up should rummage in other people’s brains is akin to a doctor reaching into an open wound with dirty hands.

But what a great twist! The guy is hetero. As he was all along before the rape. He psyched himself into a fake gayness to make what happened with Darrien more palatable. And we, the viewers, chose not to see it even when the clues were all there.
