Tim Walz’s Son

One thing that got to me from the snippets of the DNC that I saw was the reaction of Tim Walz’s son. I felt exactly this way about my Dad. Still do, in fact. It’s been over two years since he died but it’s still raw.

Tim Walz’s son is a special needs boy, so he expresses himself more openly than I ever could but the feeling is the same. How wonderful for this boy to have such a relationship with his Dad. What a gift a great father is.

Any child is eager to feel like this about the parents if they give the tiniest chance.

      The Central Park 5 were exonerated based on DNA evidence and the actual murderer/rapist (man named Reyes) is behind bars for life.

        We have already discussed this at length. People who hold a a victim down during a gang rape are as guilty of rape as the dude who ejaculated. Not ejaculating at the scene of the crime does not constitute “DNA evidence” of no rape.

        It was known from the start that these 5 suspects did not ejaculate and another criminal was present at the scene. That he was later found in no way denies their culpability.

        It would be a tragic development for our legal system if we could only incarcerate rapists who happen to ejaculate during the commission of the crime.

          I would really like it if people stopped to think how it is even possible to exonerate people in a crime of gang rape “based on DNA evidence.” This wording makes absolutely no sense. DNA can be evidence of crime. But lack of it can’t possibly be evidence there was no crime.

          Equating rape with ejaculation would mean an extraordinary and worrying rollback of our sex crimes legislation. It would mean, for example, that rape with an object is not rape at all. We cannot possibly want that.

      I saw after posting she was shocked. Are we for family values or not? These are fail values, so why aren’t we applauding them. Walz didn’t abandon his special needs boy. To the contrary, he’s clearly been an excellent, loving dad to him. That’s wonderful. We need more of this, not less.

      I despise this childish contrarianism where we need to be against everything the opponent says or is. Like Pavlovian dogs who operate on instinct.

    What do you expect from that Coulter creature, she thinks women shouldn’t vote and hates everyone who’s vaguely liberal. I’m more conservative than her and I think she’s a disgusting person, people like her make folks think conservative women are evil and heartless. That’s why I don’t care if people call her “Man Coulter”, she wouldn’t piss on us if we were on fire and we should extend her the same courtesy.

    Mocking autistic people is personal, my younger brother has autism and my older brother punched a guy for calling him a retard. The punch worked, he stopped calling our brother a retard. I’d do the same thing, if that Coulter creature says one more thing about autistic kids, I will punch her in her ugly face

      Do you mean Ann Coulter? I didn’t know she crapped on the kid. I saw a couple of men do it on Twitter.

      In any case, whoever did it is a douche. A boy who loves his father and has his father so present in his life – it’s a beautiful thing to see.

        I investigated and she took that tweet down when she was told the boy is autistic. That’s good. Those who didn’t take their crap down are idjits.

            As I mentioned in this very thread, Coulter deleted her tweet, so there’s no way to know what she said. Can you try to concentrate for a second?

            “Autism” is an umbrella term with no fixed meaning, and your faux outrage over terminology adds nothing useful to the conversation. What I have was considered autism in 2012 but is not any longer. It’s a floating term that is in constant flux. Why you are pouting about it is a mystery.

                Archives exist of that tweet. None exist of Tim Walz’s.

              Are you being stupid on purpose by saying there’s no way to know what Coulter said?

                Asperger’s doesn’t get diagnosed any more and hasn’t been for over 15 years.

                People have used the term “neurodivergent” for Gus Walz, and I think it’s a good term because the exact specifics are both unnecessary for people who aren’t part of his family and unhelpful. We can simply say he’s special needs and avoid prurient rummaging in another person’s neural condition that has nothing to do with us.

              Hey, let me explain the pouting. In reading about Gus’s diagnosis in any of the articles that were done with his parents’ participation, I haven’t seen the word “autism” once.

              They have never used that word or described their son as “autistic”. It’s asshole commentators online apologizing after mocking the boy who diagnosed him that way.

      Coulter is a rusty butter knife with tetanus and a bleached Barbie wig.

      You and your older brother’s punching arms must be pretty tired, but at least your younger brother knows you’re not going to make nice with his bully afterwards for gain.

      For a politician to have his disabled son very much out there publicly without making him mask constantly, shouldn’t be amazing.

      The Kennedys and the Windsors institutionalized several of their relatives.

    I believe that what was previously diagnosed as Asperger’s is now diagnosed as being on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum. So what you have is still considered autism, except now its name is literally “autism”.
