Brain Disease

Oprah is a billionaire who is using her media reach to support her preferred candidate in the election. This is exactly what Elon Musk is doing. Either both are despicable for doing it, or neither is.

Partisanship is a brain disease.

  1. The difference, of course, is that Elon is putting his thumb on the scale: blocking and throttling accounts that support Dems and boosting those rightwing ones. Don’t have an equivalent on Oprah’s end.

    1. I’m sure you complained of this kind of unfairness when the media censored COVID information (including jokes), when Twitter closed down Trump’s account, or when Ukraine supporters had our accounts banned for years before Musk bought Twitter.

          1. I’m rarely outraged about much these days. But if anything is illegal, I’m sure it will be prosecuted. But I don’t wake up pretending that Elon is not putting his hands on the scale for his hobby horse — the exact thing he said the old Twitter guys did.

  2. Speaking of Oprah, I think this point makes sense. If the richest black person on the planet is still tormented by racism, then, by definition, no social justice government program can be successful in “solving racism.” No amount of reparations and affirmative action can work. It is a doomed project.
