I would be voting for Trump if he hadn’t inflicted Vance on us. Vance is the standard “America bad” lefty. People who don’t recognize this framework for what it is simply haven’t spent as much time as I have on the far left.
It’s gotten to the point where it’s fine on the right to question the US contribution to the Allied victory in WWII. All of our greatest achievements are being shat on because leftism won. It won so big, the right is slavishly imitating it.
In four years, we will have two lefty “America bad” candidates running against each other, and that’s when it will really become gloomy.
I’d have openly welcomed your vote for Harris/Walz — a team that love the country and are happy about its opportunities for all — but you live in Illinois anyway, so it probably won’t matter.
Thanks for seeing the Trump ticket for the waste it is, though.

Yes sir!
They don’t call it a garbage can or a floating mess in the ocean. They don’t have an “enemy within” and they’re not looking to become dictators on day one. In short, they’re not the felon team.

What can you do when you write “I despise leftism” and a commenter starts jumping up with joy because they think it means you adore leftism.

You’re welcome to the resistance, anyway.
Some people won’t vote for him because he’s a fascist, some because his deputy is a “leftist”, and some because he’s a felon, or because their team will ban abortions, and some because his policies will blow a hole in the federal deficit and ruin the economy. You’re all welcome. As long as he doesn’t return to office.

A simple test: will hearing this make the mullahs happy? If the answer is yes, it can’t be good.

I feel second-hand embarrassment for anyone who chooses to call their group The Resistance. This is what happens when you consume too many Marvel movies.

ah, forgot. That’s too complicated.

You haven’t followed any kind of rightwing discourse as long as I have (AFAIK) and so you might not realize it’s been that way for a good 15 years.
People point to the conspiracy right but I think it goes a lot deeper. W’s misbegotten ‘war on terror’ seems to have been a catalyst for it – no way to put make up on that pig and make it pretty in the age of the internet.

Yes, it has existed for a while but it’s now not only going mainstream, it’s close to becoming the only thing there is. Two shades of the same leftist excrement, and we are supposed to determine which stinks more attractively.

I’m voting for Trump, but that’s the best possible reason to not vote for him and I can’t fault you for it. I’m not voting for Bernie Moreno for similar reasons (plus Sherrod Brown is far better than Kamala Harris.)

I suppose it makes sense to question historic achievements that are no longer achievable. The greatest US contribution to WWII was mass production, such as the Liberty ships. These days, China builds half of the world’s ships and US shipbuilding is negligible. Overseas operations are extremely risky when the capacity to replace lost ships no longer exists.
