Here’s yet another illustration of why I consider people who unironically use the expression “human rights” to be clinically retarded:
The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal has found the township of Emo will have to pay damages after refusing to proclaim Pride Month back in 2020.
Borderland Pride requested Emo to declare June as Pride Month and display a rainbow flag for one week but the township refused, resulting in a years-long process in which the tribunal ruled against the township.
The tribunal ruled Borderland Pride will be awarded $15,000, with $10,000 coming from the township itself and the other $5,000 coming from Emo mayor Harold McQuaker.
In Ontario, it’s now “a human right” to force other people to put up a rainbow flag. As I’ve been explaining for months, a right is whatever a specific interest group can recruit institutions of power into supporting. There are no vague human rights floating in the air outside of the societies we build. Whatever is or is not “a human right” depends on who in society has a larger stick to beat everybody else into submission.
The shift in usage from “rights” (meaning, a specific list codified in the foundational documents of the nation-state) to “human rights” (a meaningless expression that is supranational by its very nature) allows to expand into infinity the list of petty grievances of invented identities under the rubric of humanity-wide interests. “Human rights” exist to deprive us of our constitutional or charter rights.
” the township of Emo”
The town is called Emo… you’d think that’s punishment enough….
Though…. I guess all things considered, it could be worse….

A few years ago, I worked on a project near Emo, staying in the hotel there. A lot of the people who live in Emo Township, maybe the majority, are strict religious Mennonites who moved to the Rainy River District to get away from the urban craziness they experienced in southern Ontario. It’s sad that the nuttiness has caught up with them. Emo is lovely place.

Thank you for bringing this despicable act of fascistic violence to your readers’ attention.
Nation-states, despite their flaws, still constitute the best means to inscribe democratic principles into economic life.
The moment nation-states are subverted by the new constitutional order of human rights, you’ll see exactly what happened in Emo, but there are countless examples: US embassies abroad flying the pride flag or forcing pro-Lgbtqass policies on countries as a condition for receiving aid…
This is what is happening in Europe with both the EU Commission strongarming states into submission and the European Court of Human Rights undermining any and every attempt by states to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and fake asylum claimants.

LOL, do you realize that appending that statement to any minority could result in your being required to attend a tribunal of three kangaroos where the Chief Wallaby will inform you that the“truth is no defence” ;-D
