So what happened with that Delta flight that crashed and flipped over in Toronto? I asked my AI tool, and it refused to acknowledge the incident ever took place. I had to beat it into submission with links for it to even accept that the crash happened. Now it tells me the names of the pilots haven’t been revealed. Does anybody have fresher news?

This kind of thing started to happen way too often in recent months. And it’s always a struggle to find out the names of the culpable.

Why on earth would you ask an AI about recent news?

I agree with “Anonymous” — Why would you ask a half-baked, still mainly science-fiction service like A.I. for accurate information about current news events?

By the time that Klara is your age, robotic services will have progressed enough to be dependable. But for now, they’re still like amusing children — innocent enough to be tolerated, but adolescent enough not to be taken seriously.

      GODDAM,N WORDPRESS TO HELL!

When I add my name to a post, WordPress embarrasses me by printing my post twice. But when I don’t specifically type it, WordPress lists me as “Anonymous.”

Fie the record, the post above starting with “I agree with Anonymous” was posted by long-time poster DREIDEL!

Off-topic: The only thing I regret about being an atheist is that the sadistic swine who created WordPress won’t spend an eternity being tortured in hell for their sins.

If you have the time and the infinite patience to find the above post signed DREIDEL, you will find that the only ground broken on this comment section is over a desolate graveyard where the creators of WordPress should be buried alive and face down, so they can see the direction where they’re going!

“the creators of WordPress should be buried alive and face down, so they can see the direction where they’re going!”

If you’re talking about whoever makes decisions about comments that’s way too mild. We need to salt the earth where they’re buried, burn holy herbs and remove their names from the historical record.

You’re using the wrong AI tool. Here is perplexity.ai:

“On February 17, 2025, Delta Flight 4819, a CRJ900 operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The plane flipped upside down, caught fire, and skidded across the runway during strong winds and blowing snow. All 80 passengers and crew survived, though 21 people were injured, including three critically (a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s)124.”

It is basically an AI based search engine that include recent news. Highly recommended.

About AI: I think that we have access to a toy-like version of AI, which is not as advanced as the AI that already exists.

About the plane: I fear that we will forget about that story, and again, we will not know what happened and who is to blame. Delta offered 30K to each passenger, so with that amount of money they will shut up.

Yeah, was going to point that out. It is not news because… pilots were women, possibly?

Let’s hope that is not true, she is only 26 years old. Most pilots of commercial aircraft in both your land and mine have that or even more years of flying, most are military veterans. I don’t even understand why she would even be considered a co-pilot in such aircraft.

At Pearson, there appears to be no sign of the experienced pilot’s usual “crabbing” the plane sideways, to handle crosswinds; nor any indication of shear winds dropping the nose or tail; and apparently no sign of attempted slowing, lowering flaps, or lifting the nose. Rather, the plane appears to drive into the tarmac at speed, smashing the lower right landing gear, shearing the right wing, and flipping the plane upside down. The right wing burned a probable ton of jet fuel, basically kerosene, fortunately, neither the left wing nor belly tanks were breached, a miracle saving 80 people. There is still a possibility of mechanical problems, but if this crash was caused by DEI, heads should roll.

Eh. I don’t think they know for sure yet. Investigations take time. Glad everybody made it out though.

I don’t know anything about airplanes but that landing did not look like any landing I’ve ever seen. I’m eagerly awaiting the investigation.

Well, I too have never seen anything like that, there doesn’t appear to even be an attempt made at a landing. Surely there must be mechanical issues.

But why would you ask AI for information here? Most AI bots aren’t updated daily and so can’t provide any information on breaking news. When they do get updated, they just dig for info on the internet that has already been produced. You won’t get new info out of them.

For me personally, for straight “news”, I still think CNN (lowbrow but free) and the NYT (higher quality but behind a paywall) are the best sources. I understand that you probably consider them too liberal and unreliable. (I think both–particularly the NYT– are fairly middle of the road.) But more conservative sources are out there. Fox News (lowbrow but free) and the Wall Street Journal (higher quality but behind a paywall) are both very conservative sources. I am on the left but I read the WSJ regularly. It’s well written and well reported. And if you want more conspiracy driven theories that indulge in DEI panic, you have Fox News. FN will absolutely post stories that speculate about the identities of the pilots. I personally think such speculations are unseemly but FN is a legitimate, attributable source produced by humans.

With all these options, why go to AI? It truly is an insult to anyone who produces content from any political perspective. AI “news” is basically a remixed bundle of unattributed and uncited information that real human reporters actually work to put out.

CNN, NYT, Fox, WSJ, BBC, etc are all propaganda. I don’t touch them. They idea that any of them is very conservative is… yeah. If that’s conservative, I’m not sure what I am.

I have not willingly accessed any of these “American Pravda” outlets for years.

The only reason to touch *any* of those “news” outlets is to see what distraction is being pushed by the machine, so you know what *not* to pay attention to, in attempting to figure out what’s happening out in the world.

I agree. They all lie worse than Soviet propaganda. And I say this as somebody well-familiar with Soviet propaganda.
