Unfortunately, in what concerns Ukraine, the Trump administration is doing exactly what the Biden administration did but openly instead of in secret. I expected a pivot in US foreign policy but there is none. A replay of Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden is taking place. Second administration Trump is weaker on foreign policy than the first. Why he’s repeating Obama’s failed reset with such dogged dedication I don’t know but it’s probably the usual lack of ideas in the same government apparatus.

I hope at least we’ll get our mass deportations. This is a historic opportunity, and it shouldn’t be pissed away.

    Neither Trump or Obama cared about Ukraine one bit. Obama even clearly stated his desire to focus on Asia. That should have been a clue to the Europeans to start preparing.

    The new multi-polar order dictates that Ukraine is in the Russian sphere of influence and Trump will respect that. He will also try to take advantage of the situation by getting some good deals on minerals and other things. If Ukraine disagrees, the Trump can just walk away saying that he tried.

    This is kind of a naive hope. The moment Trump chose someone like Elon over someone like Bannon that should have given you an immediate clue of where he stands (and even with Bannon he did not do mass deportations). Trump is a business man, he wants to make more money, make deals, and have a strong economy. He will not do mass deportation for the simple fact that he loves cheap labor just as much as the rest of his billionaire buddies. He’s a real state developer, near 50% of construction workers are illegal. You connect the dots here whether he will truly mass deport his cheap labor.

    And true to form… the same day that Lavrov said russia’s never targeted civilian infrastructure and just as Trump finished talking about how russia wants peace they launch a massive attack against civilian infrastructure in Odesa…

    Musk is Ukraine’s ally.

    Surely he will intervene and generously convince Ukraine to take that last deal b/c it’s so much better than their BATNA. Then the spigot of all the DOGE savings can go towards weapons and defense.

    Are you going to play the ASMR Chains X post at your next meeting to soothe your hysterical soon to be fired woke DEI colleagues? I’d record it for my own personal spa day.

    I called Sens. McCormick and Fetterman, as well as Rep. Reschenthaler to demand support for Ukraine. Dave, John, and Guy say “hi.”

    Am I a gracious loser, or what?

    Of course, now I have to get to work on opposing Patel, protecting IRS data from DOGE, defending our national parks, opposing safety net cuts to fund billionaire tax breaks, fighting constitutional crises, opposing H.R. 32, defending Section 504…and a few other matters.

        Us tech has depended on Asian manufacturing for decades. There’s no point in pretending we’re still living in the 50s when US manufacturing was dominant.

          There’s definitely no point in pretending. Bit there is a huge point in reversing. What is fine through human will and design can be undone. This wasn’t an act of God that just occurred.

          Which is exactly the point Yarvin starts his book with.

            The US is a big place with an increasing population. China’s population is decreasing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up the same, but it might take a while.

              It’s not the quantity but the quality, especially in the present era. As an example, a single child of high-achieving Americans will have a different path and is raised in a completely different strategy and mentality than one of 11 siblings in a Bangladeshi family. Their entire subjectivity will be so different, they’ll almost be from different planets.

                People are not interchangeable widgets, is what I’m saying. A couple of years ago, my husband and I read a parenting book from China. We almost perished with laughter because to us they entire thing is comedic. I’m sure that for the Chinese our parenting practices are just as incomprehensible.

                The scale of the market makes a huge difference. For example movies can set global records simply based on their performance in China. Historically this was only possible in the US.
