My mother is preparing for a very serious oncological surgery today. I called her, and she’s very chirpy.

“They just weighed me,” she said excitedly, “and I lost 8 kgs. And I didn’t even have to do anything!”

Women are such women. It’s really cute and gives me hope that if she can still care about losing weight, the surgery will be fine.

Sending good wishes to her and you.

One of my former best-loved university professors had cancer, yet succeeded to beat it and years later continues working even now (googled it to check).

So first-world medicine can sometimes help even in extreme situations.

Your mother’s mental strength will also help treatment to work.

Thank you! It’s mostly my sister’s mental strength that made it through the complexities of the Canadian healthcare system and finally got my mother to receive care. It was anything but easy.

Best wishes to your mother as well as to you and your sister. Parental health problems are hard for everyone. I hope everything goes well and that your mother can keep seeing the positives.

Thank you! This is the second cancer they find in her in the past several months. It’s a rollercoaster, for sure.

And I have my own surgery in two weeks. Our life has become hospital-themed.

I am praying for your mom. I am hopeful with you. My dad was also chipper/chirpy right before quadruple bypass surgery. We were all gobsmacked and terrified. He did just fine. I am thankful for good doctors.
