Q&A: The Pope

I’m not Catholic so I don’t follow much. I have a vague feeling that the current Pope is better than the previous one. But maybe it’s because he’s American, and I have more faith in American Catholics than Argentinean because the Argentinean ones tend to be Commie types.

Do we have any Catholics here who have a better insight? I’m very persuadable on this or any other Pope because what do I know about what’s good for Catholics?

  1. I’m Catholic and follow Catholic news pretty closely. Leo is certainly an improvement in that he does not have an irrational animus against American Catholics the way the last pope seemed to. Also he hasn’t been prone to making impromptu remarks to journalists that were–to say the least–not very well thought out. We are still waiting to see whether certain highly placed corrupt or abusive clerics that Francis protected will be finally brought to justice under Pope Leo.

  2. I’m Catholic. He is certainly better for American Catholics since he doesn’t share the last pope’s animus against us. Second, he isn’t given to making strange impromptu remarks that were not–to say the least–well thought out. His recent remarks at a Q&A with youth at a conference–via satellite–were lovely. And he seems to be making a good impression this week in Turkey and Lebanon. It remains to be seen whether he will bring several corrupt Vatican clerics–who were protected by Francis–to justice. I’m hopeful.

  3. Sorry I answered twice. WordPress gave me the impression that it had lost my first comment, so I wrote it again under anonymous. It’s one of the reasons I comment so rarely here–Wordpress does not like me or my passwords.
