Who Goes Chagos?

Wow, people, whuuut? The Chagos deal is off? How could I possibly have missed this?

Trump did good. This deal was an abomination.

I’ve seen five trillion reports on something rude Trump said about the British army but I didn’t see this excellent news on Trump forcing out of existence a deal to hand over British-controlled lands.

People urgently need to do some soul-searching as to why they value words over actions. Forget Trump. This is a blight on any life project if it’s based on worshipping words and disregarding action.

  1. “something rude Trump said about the British army “

Worse than rude and about all allied countries that tried to help the US in Afghanistan.

I realize talk is not the same as physical actions, but on the other hand, spitting in the face of allies and telling them their contributions are useless serves the US…. how?

    1. Trump says a lot of extremely retarded, moronic, despicable shit. That’s a fact. I wish he didn’t say any of the retarded, despicable shit. But in the midst of saying the despicable shit, he sometimes gets good results. Our only alternative is people who say despicable, retarded shit and only get bad results. So they all say despicable things, but only one of them sometimes does something useful for us.

  2. Don’t get too excited on Chagos, it’s only be withdrawn from the House of Lords because the opposition put too many amendments to the Bill and Starmer wasn’t willing to use the time to get it through (despite having appointed himself a load of cronies in that Chamber).

It is good that the US has u-turned and now says that the Chagos giveaway would breach the 1966 treaty – that takes away Richard Hermer’s lies but won’t stop his political bias pushing for this appalling surrender deal.

And on the point of Trump’s comments re the British Army in Afghanistan, he was rude but not wrong. Due partly to the failures of the snatch Landrover, the Britsih weren’t able to cover all their original commitments without support from the US and other NATO allies.

      1. I agree, but from a British perspective I totally understand why certain elements in the USA don’t feel supported by their NATO allies and want to make that point impolitely (if moronically!)

          1. “it deserves so much better than all of its politicians”

A total collapse of the governing establishment… rivalled only by Germany. It’s all but impossible to find a politician around the top who one would trust to do…. any real work for you.

Starmer seems like a fail child (minus famous parents) who bumbles from one failed project or backtrack on a policy announcement to another.

Farage, apart from russian money, is a gadfly, not a leader. Gadflies have their uses but leading a country is not one of them…

            What… happened?

            1. Did you see Starmer in China? He got no deals, only humiliation. Bowing to the Chinese flag, being called the “tú” form by Xi while calling him the “usted” form. It seems like all Xi wanted from him was to humiliate him and send him away. Still not as bad as Trump crawling on his stomach for Putin but still extremely embarrassing. And useless. I respect a leader who accepts personal humiliation for the sake of his people. But all this obsequiousness brought nothing to our countries. It’s gratuitous humiliation.

Well, at least they still have a great relationship since Trump hung putin’s picture in the White House…

Part of the destruction of the nation state is the disappearance of competent leaders able to maintain any personal dignity.

              2. If Trump got some results in exchange for this debasement, I wouldn’t mind if he wrapped himself in the Russian flag and barfed up a dozen tri-colored Margarita Simonyans. But he got nothing. He’s being spat at in Russia. They air the photos of his naked hooker wife on state TV obsessively. What was this all for? Some business deal? Ha ha. Even Trump must know by this time that doing business with the Russians requires a very different type of testicular endowment.

Fair enough, I have no problem with anybody complaining about the current state of the military in the NATO allies, Canada’s is an absolute F’ing feminist makework wetdream. But the reality is that Americans, especially Trump, are not in any position to disparage the historic military efforts of any of their allies in NATO or SEATO.
