Quote: The Grace of Living

We all come to this vale of tears with some modest mission that does not usually coincide with the boastful and high-sounding missions that, in our conceit, we attribute to ourselves; and in fulfilling that modest mission that has been assigned to us lies the grace of living.

Juan Manuel de Prada, Weirdos Like Me (2023)

I want to add that figuring out and accepting this mission is a crucial task of existence. Sad as sad can be is the life of people who reject the mission apportioned to them by God.

  1. It’s a personal question, but have you figured out your mission in this world? How?

Isn’t it something one does best and benefits others too? For instance, teaching Spanish to enable students escape poverty and ignorance.

May not atheists also figure it out?

    1. I’m cleansing our bloodline from its legacy of extreme psychological dysfunction. It stops with me. And it’s taking an enormous amount of work. But it stops right here.

      1. It is significant, not merely modest.

In today’s world, in which the ability to think in concepts like bloodlines is destroyed, figuring out one’s mission may become impossible for most.

        1. Well, this is just my mission. People can find their in something completely unrelated to their bloodline.

I think it’s modest because I’m not trying to benefit humanity. I’m simply trying to pass on to my daughter the best that we have and cleanse it from the bad. I know you are doing the same.
