They’ve been crossing over for a long time, it’s just that until now, they haven’t crashed into cities, just tiny villages near the border.
I have *no idea* why it didn’t get shot down – apparently we had a fighter plane in the air just staring at it as it made its way towards a medium sized city and crashed in an apartment block.
Still, we’re not super worried about it – Romanian apartment buildings tend to explode due to someone fucking with the gas supply far more often than due to Russian drones.

Same in Poland, imo, the second a drone crosses the border it needs to be shot down (no matter which side) but the usual suspects are still clucking about the dangers of ‘escalation’…
“Romanian apartment buildings”
My first time in Bucuresti I was flabbergasted at how… frail so many of the buildings looked, like they might fall down if you breathe too hard on them. And I’m not talking about small buildings but buildings of ten or more stories…
A few visits later I noticed lots of buildings with stickers warning that they’re in danger in case of earthquake…. they were probably there before but I hadn’t noticed them…
