Preachy Didacticism

As an immigrant myself, I have to ask what kind of a moron thinks that it’s a good idea to put up this kind of billboards. The preachy didacticism nobody ever asked for is annoying. The point the billboard makes is extremely ridiculous and uneducated. This is so similar to the Soviet propaganda. All of those red banners with gold or white lettering that repeated the same tired old slogans, which neither the ideologues nor the public believed or took seriously.

The main difference between the political left and right at this moment is that on the right there is an effervescence of original thought and deep, insightful analysis. On the left, there is nothing but slogans. They’re always the same. They’re always an exact contradiction of reality. They’re boring, they lack in humor, and they’re unable to provoke anything other than boredom or annoyance.

Along with everything you wrote, it codes immigrants as no-skill grunts to be exploited and discarded…

“I do “unable to provoke anything other than boredom or annoyance”

I dunno… there is a certain kind of person (mostly left, mostly female) that gets a little tingle of pleasure from seeing and agreeing with extremely trite political slogans… We might call them Babbettes…

  2. Seems like lately, about 90% of what passes for mainstream political discourse (ie propaganda) is:

“HOW DARE YOU care about basic quality of life!!!”

immigration, crime, drugs, vagrancy, housing prices, inflation, fraud, the school system, public services, public utilities, predatory solar installations, road maintenance, everything… it’s not “the right wing”. It’s just every working person between the welfare cutoff and the gated community buy-in level noticing that their standard of living is getting worse every year, even while their incomes are stable or rising.

And the Bureaucratic Class has decided that fixing it isn’t an option, so we’re just gonna go with trying to shame everybody out of mentioning it, and try to redirect everybody to arguing about sex and taxes.
