I don’t know from cave entrances. As a woman who has given birth twice, I am arranging myself as close as possible to the bathroom. No other factor has the slightest importance to me.
Few things in life are more powerful than the solidarity around the issue of bathrooms of women who have given birth.
I was thinking along similar lines. I always get the spot nearest the door. Because I’m the one who gets up in the night to pee, to tend to sick kids, and to get the freaked-out-kid-who-had-a-nightmare calmed down and back to bed. It is not practical for my husband to sleep nearest the door.
Are there really evo/psych surveys on this? And are they real, or just another thing where somebody made up some data to justify their grant?

LOL, evo/psych is simply the male tendency to measure everything, the need to understand. And yes, along with the heady euphoria we all feel in love, men tend to develop a strong protective instinct. The question is not where you sleep currently, the question is where did you sleep when you were first spooning ;-D

I’m puzzled at the “without even knowing they’re doing it” part. At what level? Maybe yes if it just means “they don’t realize there is a widespread pattern, and that they match it”. But it seems to say they never had a moment of choosing sides and communicating it, which would be hard to back up.

i have always slept closest to the door because it’s furthest away from the windows and the cold bothers my more than my husband. I suspect this will change after menopause hits.

It’s not true that either perimenopause or menopause necessarily have symptoms. I know zero women who had any symptoms at all. Admittedly, I don’t know many people.

I don’t know about menopause yet, but cold sensitivity is definitely hormone linked for some people. I used to be extremely intolerant to cold– anything under about 78F was miserable. Went away with the first baby. Hasn’t come back except for temporary spells while I was ill.

Hormonal cycle does affect it, but women do feel the cold more than men, we are different animals. You are designed to keep your core organs warm.

Heh. Childhood acclimation must have something to do with it. I keep the house at eighty during the daytime, as long as that keeps the humidity at 60 percent or lower. Turn it down to 77 or 78 at night, and fans to keep the air circulating.
