Karmelo Anthony Found Guilty

Good news, people. Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of murdering Austin Metcalf. This was very expected because the killer had absolutely no defense and barely put on any witnesses. If his parents had an ounce of concern for their son, they would have hired a serious lawyer with all of the money that had been donated to them and that lawyer would have pled Karmelo down. Of course, if Karmelo had this kind of caring parents, his story might have been very different.

I hope he gets the maximum possible term in jail.

  1. OT, but interesting observing the Belfast activities on socmed. Don’t reckon anything will come of it– population’s been disarmed already.

More interesting that there seems to be a blackout on new footage for… better part of the last hour. Tons of new posts recycling earlier ‘news’. Nothing new. Trying to work out whether the blockade/censoring is happening at the social media company level, or the country level.

I’m very curious to see what, if anything, this tells us about the progress of the surveillance/censorship state in the UK.

    1. What a horrible thing to happen. And it’s also horrible that nobody is surprised. It’s now a daily occurrence that something horrific like this happens and authorities try to cover it up.

      1. Not talking about the initial attack. Talking about tonight. I’ve been compulsively refreshing X news for “belfast”, poking at a few other platforms, and we’re now over four hours without even the tiniest scrap of fresh news– same footage, same news blurbs, same pics, recycled endlessly. Total information blackout.

The only thing that’s changed in the last four plus hours is the talking point memo: we’ve gone from “Belfast burning itself down, the stupids” to “Belfast rioters targeting immigrant homes/businesses” (So we went from trying to claim random violence, to admitting targeted arson).

What level is that happening at? Is the UK govt censoring comms coming from the UK? Is that happening at the social-media-company level? It seems like if that were just really great OpSec from the rioters, you’d still be seeing fresh media reels from news orgs, but so far nothing.

        Considering the implications of that…

        1. Still looking. Haven’t found any evidence that anybody in Belfast has even been on X in the last seven hours. Maybe I’m using the wrong search terms, but usually the internet is easier to squeeze info out of than this.

        2. I’ve seen footage from 2 years ago that people try to pass off as from earlier today. This happens when there’s no fresh footage for some mysterious reason. Fascinating.
