Pink?? What kind of a moron made them pink? I’d have to use one every time because there’s no way my daughter lets me pass up a pink shopping basket.

The smart way to go is to make them white, so that they are of no particular interest to children.

Other than the unfortunate choice of color, the idea is good.

Does it then follow that if you choose the regular basket, people will leave you alone?

These are Finns. They aren’t likely to talk to anybody even in the best of times.

Love Finns but they have the emotional temperature of a freezer.

That’s the reputation… my first time in Poland there was a group of Finns… doing something there. Anyway I saw them on some occasions when foreigners gathered. Any time they wanted to talk to each other (which wasn’t often) they’d lean in and whisper in the other’s ear as if they were afraid someone else would overhear and understand…

They made a silent movie in 1999 and I once watched the beginning of a different Finnish movie after the first 20 or so minutes with no dialogue I gave up and switched the channel.

On the other hand, one of my favorite post WWII operas was written by a Finn – Punainen Viiva (“The red line” by Sallinen). Set in the desolate north around the time of the first election that led to eventual Finnish independence. It is a cheerful work in which many characters starve to death and the protagonist is killed by a bear at the end.

I’m weeping. 😆😆Yes, Scandinavian literature is hardcore gloomy.

What I find particularly funny is that Scandinavians are very devoted to the idea that all people are biologically the same. It’s like, dude, have you met a Brazilian because you and they are almost different species.

It is because sameness is very important to us. It is considered rude to point out how others differ, if we are supposed to be one group.

NO! As a group, the Nordic countries appear to bee the first to publicly say that enough is bloody well enough ;-D

Only because the “refugees” are so piss poor at assimilating. If they had done even a halftime decent job of it, no one would have said anything about stopping them from migrating.
