Kids’ Menu

Yes. I’m the mom who persecutes waiters with “And please, no sauce anywhere in the vicinity of the meal. No sauce. None.”

To which they tend to respond, “Ok, I’ll just put the sauce on the side.” Which makes it clear that they are childless, or otherwise they would understand that no sauce means, ideally, that there is no sauce in the radius of 3.5 miles from my child.

And yes, a burger is just meat and a bun. Lord have mercy on anybody who has the gall to suggest otherwise.

Klara doesn’t like  sauce? Or is it bad for health?

I imagined a burger as meat, a bun and some vegetables, like green leaves of smth.

If there’s sauce anywhere in the vicinity of the food, she won’t eat it. There’s also a whole thing with different parts of the meal not touching each other on the plate.

This is normal with children, hence the funny menu. They have the strangest food fads.

        *normal with neurodivergent children.

My child is completely normal, thank you very much. Are you feeling unwell that you need to run around diagnosing other people’s children? Speaking about normal, this kind of behavior is not it.

Oh honey, you’re neurodivergent, assuming you tell the truth here about N, then he is neurodivergent, thus the two of you have a neurodivergent child, and whenever your rose-tinted glasses slip off and you inadvertently let slip real life examples of Klara’s behaviour, it’s confirmed. Neurodivergent folks trying to pretend not to be, doesn’t equate to ‘normal’, that’s just denial.

I know exactly what I am, and there is no need to address me in this rude manner over it. The reason why my husband and I are the way we are is that we both grew up in very abusive, chaotic families. My husband’s father routinely beat his wife and children with a bloody pipe. The parents chased each other with meat cleavers as a matter of course. How is one supposed to grow up normal in this environment?

And please, don’t mix metaphors. You are writing carelessly because you’re getting emotional over something that has nothing whatsoever to do with you. Speaking about normal, once again, this isn’t it.

One of my three does this. If the sauce is integral to the food (i.e. cheese sauce in macaroni, tomato sauce on pizza), he will eat it. But if it could in any way shape or form be construed as dip or dressing: totally unacceptable.

The youngest tries to copy him sometimes, but he is susceptible to ketchup and vinaigrette.

Klara makes an exception for ranch sauce which is something I’ll never understand.

Actually, many commercial sauces and relishes are rather unhealthy. My wife made her own, easy, inexpensive and the kids loved. We had to watch how much relish they put on hotdogs and hamburgers, given a chance they would eat it with a spoon ;-D
