Speaking about Jason Arday, it is worth noting that he was hired by Cambridge as a professor of sociology with zero training in sociology. His Ph.D. and all of the previous degrees were in education, specifically teacher training in physical education.

This wouldn’t be possible in my discipline because there is a barrier to entry even at the lowest level. You either speak Spanish or not. During the hiring process, people simply switch to Spanish and immediately grow you on your readings. In biology, chemistry, mathematics, all of the real disciplines, there is a barrier to entry. Not in sociology, though. Or in education, which tells you everything you need to know about these disciplines.

C’mon Kid, DEI is simply the latest terminology desperately hoping to camoflage, to disguise, the deliberate cheating for privileged groups. And it is not simply about race, the original AA fraud was largely about gender, have any functional straight males survived the current er, well, let’s just call it oestrogenic poisoning ;-D

55% of assistant professors, which is the lowest tenure-track rank, are female. At the highest rank, which is full professor, only 32% are women.

And this is in spite of the fact that, as you correctly state, there has been a multi-decade concerted effort to even out the numbers by holding back men and promoting women. To get to the rank of full professor, you need to make a name for yourself as a scholar. Administrative positions or teaching don’t help, and this is the result.

Actually, if you really wish to see the end of such behavior we must use accurate words. There was no “concerted effort“, no “holding back“, no “promoting” — there has been three generations of deliberate cheating men out of earned opportunities while hiring less qualified women. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I am not disagreeing at all. None of this is good.
