Here is a quote from a post that received an enormous number of likes from women:
One of the hardest things to explain to men is just how much hormones and their shift affect the way we women think, feel and experience the world.
It goes on and on, explaining in great detail how women are completely ruled by their hormones and are incapable of making rational decisions or keeping their physiology in check. It is one of an enormous number of posts all arguing something similar to this.
What I find hard to understand is how the same women who publish and like these posts can possibly defend women’s right to vote, work, conduct banking operations, or own property. The women they describe are much closer to my cat than to an actual human being. You can’t let cats run civilization, and if women are truly so incapable of getting a handle on their physicality (which I most certainly believe is utterly untrue), then they shouldn’t be out without adult supervision.
Of course, the authors of these posts are being dishonest. They most certainly can control their “hormonal shifts” when they need to. Right now in Ukraine, women work, give birth, raise children, and operate drones under daily bombings and extreme stress of active warfare. Not a peep comes out of them regarding hormonal shifts.
Another aspect of the current debate on female physiology is that it presents pregnancy and childbirth as rendering women into a state of complete loss of agency and depersonalization. We already don’t have great fertility rates. None of this is helpful.
This entire argument is completely self-defeating to women who are politically both on the left and on the right.
