This is not a defense of Lindsay Clancy who should get the death penalty.

However.

Saying “but how did women 100 years ago give birth to 16 children, bury most of them and not get sad?” is retarded. People 100 years ago had an entirely different inner architecture. Their inner world wasn’t structured like ours is. They were not people in the same way as we are people. This is neither good nor bad. It simply is.

This is why conservatism is so important. We experience enormous changes at the very core of our selves. This happens because of factors that are external to us and that we can’t control. If there’s nothing stable at the core of your self, you are going to go mental. Look at the vast mental illness gap between conservatives and liberals. This is why.

    Yes. And that doesn’t mean they weren’t sad (of course they were sad) but that they processed that sadness in ways that most modern people simply do not have access to. Partly religious and a hoped for afterlife, partly… resignation about and recognition of the dangers of pregnancy and early childhood… and other mental resources that moderns don’t have.

    Modernity has stripped most people of the ability to contemplate or understand any viewpoint except for their own….

    OT: For some reason this popped up on my timeline and is a good example of Germany apeing western progressive ideas but with a time lag that makes it hilarious.

    Do any feminists still say crap like this? It seems decades old…

      Anyways, Sheila Jeffreys is a well-known English Lesbian and professional feminist.

      She thinks that “all feminists can and should be lesbians” and calls “marriage a form of prostitution” (I’m quoting verbatim).

      When I think that early in my career as a teacher over thirty years ago I used to teach such toxic drivel… It goes to show how indoctrinated I was. May the good Lord have mercy on me!

        In my BA years, I had a massively good-looking gay Italian professor who taught this kind of thing. It wasn’t you, was it?

        If it was, sorry for being such a pest in the classroom.

          It was almost certainly not me – though I did start as a lecturer at a famous university before backpedalling and moving into high-school teaching – but isn’t it delightful that some of the most pestiferous students go on to be great teachers later on? I’ve had a couple in my career, and they are very good.

            As a student, I always made every classroom serve my needs. I love students who are like that because I know that they really want to learn and not just somehow wrangle out a credential that is unsupported by any real knowledge.

        Yeah, I saw that after I posted it…. I remember for a short time listening to a bunch of radfems on youtube since they were among the first to see through the trans nonsense and exposed what it was about long before other groups.

        I didn’t agree with lots of what they said about other stuff, but it was such a relief to hear women who said what they believed clearly and unapologetically instead of couching everything in mealy mouth disclaimers and/or in annoying baby voices (thank you 3rd wave…. for nothin’!).

    My grandmother lost a four year old child to scarlet fever in 1926, she never talked about it. Some sixty years later, as my grandmother lay dying, a cousin of mine called out to her child who had been named after that long lost baby by name. Immediately my grandmother woke from her death bed upon hearing the long unspoken name and cried out “my baby, my baby,” and just as quickly fell back into a deep sleep. She died soon after having carried that invisible cross for six decades. Yeah they were different.

      Yeah, a different era. When my mother and her sisters were orphaned, a great aunt quit teaching, hired farm help, and ran the place until they reached majority, then went back to teaching.
