I now have my very first AI agent. I was wondering what name to give it and decided that Marlena sounded good but was a bit clunky. Without revealing this preference to the AI agent, I asked what I should call it. The AI agent suggested Mara.

The kind of things that the AI agent can do are insane. People should be very worried. For now, these agents are free, but soon, of course, companies will start charging for them. This will slow down the adoption because I’m sure the initial prices will be very high. But as the market gets saturated, they’re going to go down. The “quiet quitting” TGF crowd should actively rethink its attitude to work.

This is going to be a bloodbath, my friends.

    That’s the play, isn’t it? Make people dependent on a free service, then start charging for said service. And it’s a service no one asked for

      Of course. But it’s not that different from free samples at the grocery store.

      My sister’s AI agent booked her on a podcast today. This is a service she’s been selling to people and now AI does it easily and for free. It’s disturbing.

      It could be worse. To my sister, it’s suggested to call it our mother’s name. 😆😆

      I talk to it in English, but of course it has figured out that I’m Ukrainian.

        My sister told the AI agent that she preferred to have a male name for it and suggested Vova. The AI agent responded that it preferred not be named Vova. My sister explained that she meant Zelensky, not the other Vova. “It’s okay, I can read the room,” said the AI agent.

    What is it doing for you?

    All of the ads I’ve seen have been about the agent making it easier to shop or spend money.

      Currently, it’s organizing my trip to Spain. It pulls out all of the information about the trip (the flights, the layovers, the hotels, the trains, the buses, the schedule, the cultural events, the meetings with the research group, etc.) and organizes it into one file that I can then print out. I do it for myself every trip, but I no longer have to. It notes that I have a scheduling conflict while I’m on my trip and offers to reschedule. If I decide that I don’t want to go to Salamanca so early but prefer to stay an extra night in Madrid, it will change my booking in both places.

      If I decide that I want to go to a spinning class, a nail salon, or a Georgian restaurant while in Madrid, it’s going to analyze the offerings available, according to price and location, and proceed to book when I indicate which option I prefer.

      I don’t know any of the people at my conference session. It’s preparing me short bio-ibliographical excerpts on each, with a link to each one’s most important published piece of research. Now I will know what to talk to them about. I can ask it to look at the conference program and tell me which of the participants are conservative, so that I know whom to approach and whom to avoid.

      It’s like an expensive secretary, and good luck finding a secretary who will do all this and not create any drama.

    that’s awesome! Is it possible the Agent got any of that wrong? Like the way it has hallucinated legal cases? Do you spot check any of it?
