In Madrid, I saw the results of Pedro Sánchez’s immigration policy. There is an extraordinary number of African men mulling around all day and having absolutely nothing whatsoever to do. The likelihood that they will find jobs is nil. Unemployment in Spain has been atrocious for decades.
The migrants do not look in the least happy. Nobody did them any favors by letting them into Spain. They’re lost, confused, and purposeless. They stalk around aimlessly, often barefoot or half-naked. They sleep on the ground or on park benches during the day. If they were brought over to improve the economy or raise fertility rates, that goal is quite clearly not going to be achieved. The idea that Spanish women will want to procreate with these men when they do not want to procreate with their own is ludicrous. As for bringing their own women from Africa, I don’t see how this can be arranged financially. Forget financially. From what I have seen, these are men who exist in a state of complete dejection. They don’t want to raise children there. They want to not be there at all. These are the unhappiest migrants I’ve ever seen, and I’m from a community of people who are traditionally very miserable in migration.
The African migrants were brought into Spain under false pretenses. There are no jobs for them, and nobody wants them there. They are completely isolated from the rest of society. The economy has no need for them, and the culture has no space for them. They will not save the fabled pension systems. On top of the many intractable problems in the Spanish economy and culture, a new intractable problem was engineered through this immigration policy.
The policy achieves neither economic nor humanitarian goals. It’s cruel to the migrants and to the natives. People who support this congratulate themselves for their profound goodness, but in reality, they are smug and indifferent.
