I started reading the new book on the history of the Spanish far right and have found fascinating things straight on the first page. For instance, the author informs us that liberal democracy rests on the foundational principles of immigration and European integration. It follows from this that democracy can only exist in Europe.
I won’t even ask how immigration made it onto the list of the fundamental principles of democracy. I will only note that three such principles in total are listed. In addition to the two already mentioned, the last foundational principle of democracy is minority rights.
You truly can’t make this shit up. “We are for democracy which means no countries but a lot of rights that emanate from the air.”
