The cognitively impaired among us have already started clumsily editing graphs to create a narrative that the midterm loss is a result of electoral fraud. I would feel bad for these poor, unintelligent individuals, but they are spoiling the chances of all of us to get a normal administration in two years. We urgently need the GOP to reform itself based on the lessons learned from this debacle. Instead, some of us are willing to let our politicians off the hook by handing them the convenient smokescreen of fraud.

By this point, my assumption is that’s what they’re being paid to do.

The people are buying into it. We are all kept hostage by these morons.

From what I’ve seen the people buying into it are a heavy minority. I’m not worried.

God, I hope so. I hope people listen to Matt Walsh and even Tucker. Both did great analysis of the debacle.

I’ve been seeing some great stuff from DeSantis

DeSantis made sure that this election, in Florida, was about property taxes, which are a huge deal to everyone since 2020, when our real estate prices went through the roof. Previous homestead exemption was only 50k. Since the influx of bluestate refugees, the price of a 1993 singlewide trailer on .2 acres has shot up to 140k and people who bought that worthless land and that used trailer in 2010 because that’s a working-class starter home here are now getting hammered by property taxes on the “increased value” of their property, which they have no way of benefiting from. This is the same as taxing unrealized gains on investments: the profit isn’t there if you didn’t sell it. And if you can’t sell your property and buy a similar one for less money, that’s not a profit anyway. So the voters turned out to get the homestead exemption bumped up to 150k. This benefits everyone, but it benefits the wage class most.

This is not rocket science: it’s offering voters something they need/want badly enough to show up at the polls for. Anybody could do it. I have a laundry-list of things that’d get the wage-class to the polls. Mostly nobody’s offering.

That said, some of the margins this election, in FL, were still small enough that republicans would have lost some of those races IF DeSantis hadn’t cracked down on voter fraud in S.FL.

So the answer is both: you have to offer voters something big enough to get them to the polls, AND you have to deal with the fraud problem. DeSantis did both.

It’s all about turning out voters. Democrats turn out when rage is stoked against the other side. Republicans turn out when you offer something they actually want. Reflecting pool and the ballroom are not what voters want. So they didn’t turn out for that.

Ohio Republicans keep trying to do something about property taxes. But all they’ve done are pathetic half measures that specifically exclude property owners in urban counties (even though we have the highest property taxes in the state!) Whatever governor bullies the legislature into doing something meaningful on this has my undying loyalty (neither candidate from this cycle was ever gonna do that, sadly.)

Quoth the lady who received two ballots last major election from a giggling poll worker.

It’s not only fraud, to be sure, and anyone lining up behind the wildest scenarios, i.e. anything other than the documented fraud already being litigated, should back off. That’s bait.

Florida is a decent model for how badly the GOP establishment got the bum’s rush: not as bad as the demoralizers and accelerationists imagine, but bad enough.

As for the “poor wee mental inferiors” V.A.P.: That schtick is getting old.

The voters didn’t turn out for us. 20 million Republican voters decided to stay home. The only way forward is to understand why and change.

Let’s say it’s fraud. The three branches of government, being controlled by the Republicans, cannot stop the kind of fraud that throws the election completely to the Democrats. Something is clearly not working. Something the Republicans are not doing right, even in the fraud scenario. This is a mess-up by the GOP of humongous proportions.

        You’ve assumed the conclusion:

The voters didn’t turn out for us. 20 million Republican voters decided to stay home. The only way forward is to understand why and change.

Unless fraud is not a significant factor, the claim that the only way forward is to understand why and change is false.

Everyone vastly underestimated the enemy’s turn at bat, and overestimated the capacity to manage the competing oligarchies at both the State and federal level.

Some states managed to both deal with the fraud, tame the aristos, corporate and bureaucratic both, and hold the line.

        Here’s where we agree:

We need understand what went right, what feeds despair, what the enemy used against us, and how to combat the different means of cheating employed.

We learned this month that 2024 was the last “if we just get enough of the legitimate vote out we can defeat the margin of fraud” election on offer. It is no good offering better candidates and swankier policies to vote for if they cannot win.

The same number of Dems turned out 2 years ago and this week. The number of Republicans dropped by 20 million.

The reason why they aren’t turning out is because it makes no sense to vote for either party if either party refuses to live in reality.

“We urgently need the GOP to reform itself based on the lessons learned from this debacle.”

Vote with Democrats to impeach Trump, that should be the main lesson learned. He’s the cause of all GOPs problems. Trump being underwater with Americans on immigration of all issues should tell you what a liability he is to the GOP.

It wasn’t fraud now and if wasn’t fraud before. Why do you think nobody even with Republicans in control has gone to jail or been tried?

This whole fraud thing is so off-putting. Reeks of loser behavior.
