Tucker Carlson vs Piers Morgan

I watched Tucker Carlson’s interview with Piers Morgan, and, oh boy, Tucker did make a whole pile of hash out of Piers.

People truly have no self-awareness. Morgan should understand that he’s not in the same intellectual category as Carlson and shouldn’t attempt to debate him. In addition to his natural limitations in terms of intelligence, Morgan is hobbled by his persistent desire to be part of mainstream media. This means that 80% of what he says must consist of reciting stale ideological points. He’s fighting with his arms tied behind his back and one of his legs sawed off.

I like Morgan, and it was unpleasant to watch him get beat up like this. But it’s a very instructive spectacle.

The parts I particularly liked were:

a) when Tucker pointed out that Morgan is incapable of saying the word “retard” aloud because it can hurt feelings yet he supports aborting children with retardation. Piers didn’t even seem to understand the point that was being made and responded with a robotic line about how “the abortion issue is settled in the UK.” Seriously, that’s how he responded. It was embarrassing to watch.

b) Tucker compared the Russian regime which he called “a straightforward authoritarianism” and the current regime in the UK that he says is more authoritarian than what Russia has. Piers Morgan started spluttering about how in the UK you can talk rubbish about the Prime Minister all you want, which must be a sign it’s not an authoritarian regime. “Yeah, but can you say aloud that homosexuality is degenerate?” responded Tucker. Again, Morgan has nothing to answer about this crucial point which is not about gay people at all. (And no, they are not degenerate, but that’s not what’s being discussed.) The authoritarianism of the 21st century is different from the authoritarianism of the 20th. It suppresses different things for different purposes. People who proclaim that there’s no authoritarianism in the UK today because the country doesn’t look anything like Stalin’s USSR are either extremely manipulative or not very intelligent.

c) Morgan walks right into the trap of saying that people are entitled to say certain things because of their bloodlines and then gets rustled up like a scared hen when this is pointed out to him.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I hope you are enjoying the day.

The Cinderella Fantasy

It’s almost cute that people believe these of childish stories:

The Cinderella fantasy never dies. I feel a lot of compassion for young people who entertain it but very little for the adults (like the quoted person) who encourage it.

A Deadbeat Monster

Officials have detained the mother of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s nephew amid the Trump administration’s ramped-up immigration enforcement efforts, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to NBC News.

The “mother of the nephew” is a deadbeat who abandoned the nephew in question. A monster, in other words. But media coverage is worded in a way that inattentive readers will miss this crucial fact.

Fake Maryam

Still, this is invariably funny:

“Maryam”, of course, is a Pakistani dude. This is instantly obvious to anybody who is active online without having to look at “Maryam’s” country of origin.

There’s nothing nefarious here. The Pakistani dude is trying to scratch out a living, getting clicks for entertaining the people whose clicks matter. He’s like a medieval minstrel of sorts.

Digital Borders

How come it doesn’t need actual borders between countries, then?

These people are full-on stupid. What’s the point of showing one’s country of origin on social media posts when “country” stops being a meaningful concept?

For days, we’ve been drowning in posts and articles about the dangers of people from other countries posting on social media. These are people who are in their countries. They aren’t committing autism fraud in Minnesota. They aren’t raping teenagers in Rome. They are in their countries. And they are the problem? Because they haven’t left?

Please observe how insistently we are led to believe that words are more important than actions. We are seriously discussing “digital borders” when the real ones, the ones that matter have been weakened into near insignificance.

Fake Peace Deals

Ukrainians have agreed to every single peace deal proposed since Trump got elected. Every single one. But guess why there’s still no peace?

Hmm, I guess you can’t be peaceful on somebody else’s behalf. After endless negotiations, Russia tanks every single one of the peace deals. After which the Trump administration proceeds to create another peace deal. Which once again is tanked by Russia. The many identical loops of this process, however, are not pushing the Trump administration towards any realizations.

What do I want Trump to do, you’ll ask?

I want the administration to pass at least one piece of legislation that will improve life in our country. I can think of long lists of legislative acts that would be of great help. To Americans.

In less than a year, Republicans will most certainly lose the Congress. This means, there will be no useful legislation coming out for years. We need the coming 12 months to be a legislative extravaganza. A whole year has already been wasted. Let’s not waste even more.

I don’t think my position is unreasonable.

Economic Messaging

I’m heaving with laughter because remember how the Biden and later Harris campaigns used this exact same word, “messaging”, when they thought stupid voters were stupidly misunderstanding how amazing the economy was:

It’s not happy heaving, mind you. It’s mostly cynical with a smattering of sardonic.

Yes, it’s messaging that’s the problem. Right-oh. If only somebody could explain a bit better why this is an amazing economy.

I think we shouldn’t vote any more because honestly.

Book Notes: Pathological. The Murderous Rage of Dr Anthony Garcia

Dr Anthony Garcia read at the 5th-grade level and spelled scissors as “sizzors”. Yet he not only was accepted but graduated from a medical school. This was in early 2000s, and you can only imagine how much stronger the push to graduate illiterate people for racial reasons has become since then.

You can graduate a donkey if you set your mind to it but you won’t be able to get the donkey to practice medicine. Dr Anthony Garcia went from one residency to another, shocking other doctors and patients with his ignorance of the medical profession and freaking out whenever his failures became obvious. It’s impossible to say if Garcia had been a violent psychopath before he ventured into medicine but, whatever his mental state had been before med school, it was not improved by the daily realization that he was too stupid to do the work he was hired to do.

If we treated intelligence like any other physical attribute (which it is), Garcia could have simply told his striving immigrant father that he didn’t have the physical capacity to be a doctor. The dad would have left Garcia in peace to pursue a living that his son could have made successfully. But we convinced ourselves that everybody on the planet is completely equal in terms of brain power and are trying to massage reality into this strange fantasy. Garcia explained his intellectual difficulties often and at length to the authorities at his medical school but they didn’t do anything to help. It’s not OK to say the words “cognitive limitations” or “IQ” because what are you, Hitler? Plus, the dad really wanted to have a doctor son, so Garcia was dragged towards the finish line of medical school both by his parents and his professors.

After being kicked out of several residencies, Garcia went on a revenge murder spree against the doctors who saw through his act and got him fired for incompetence. He murdered four people, including a 12-year-old son of one of the doctors who tried to help him. When Garcia was apprehended, he was making plans for additional murders. He fantasized about torturing people and had a whole arsenal of weapons and torture devices on him when the police finally caught him, 5 years after the first murders.

You are guilty of disparate impact and open to prosecution under the Civil Rights Act irrespective of whether you had an intention to discriminate on racial grounds. The only factor that is taken into account is whether your actions created disparate results for different racial groups.

Q&A: Happiness

How often do you stop to observe the play of shadows on a wall, the intensity of the sky at noon, or the still sharpness of air in the morning? How often do you feel flooded by the ecstasy of these experiences?

Happiness is the capacity to enjoy the daily sounds, shapes, and textures of life. It seems like a simple thing but it’s not always easy to get to the point where the barrier we erect between ourselves and happiness can recede.
