Political Correctness in the Past

In the University of Barcelona in 1941, a professor of geography told his students not to use the words “orientation” and “oriented” because “this is Spain, and Spain is in the Occident, so let’s not use this orientalist vocabulary.”

This was a terrible post-war time. Many real professors had either died or gone into exile, so the university had to hire a lot of ideologically sound yet intellectually deficient quacks.

We are now doing the same kind of thing but without the excuse of a war or a dictatorship. We have gladly and eagerly assumed every insane ideological hangup of every possible authoritarian regime. Too much freedom sends people looking for boundaries, and in the absence of any real ones, they surround themselves with walls of superstition, quackery and self-policing. Our “pronouns: he, him” is the “touch wood” of a pre-industrial peasant.

Too much and too little freedom lead to the same place of great anxiety and generalized superstitious stupidity.

Healthy Canadians

What I don’t like about Canada is that this is what counts as a healthy breakfast:

It’s the most humongous portion I’ve seen in years.

Merry Canadians

What I like about Canada is that when I say I from the US, people immediately respond with “Merry Christmas.” It’s really sweet.

Vive la poutine libre!

The famous poutine

Every time I eat poutine, I begin to support Quebec’s indepence.

I actually prefer the regular working class poutine to this fancy one with the hollandaise sauce but the point still stands.

More Thanks Are Due

In the meantime, a guy in Tennessee recently murdered an 18-year-old girl because he enjoys shooting at people for no reason. The murderer has a long history of criminal activity, including the 2021 shooting at a mother and two toddlers for which he received no punishment. Here’s a short list of the criminal activity by this criminal:

  • 2011: Police seized a .40 caliber handgun from Taylor during an incident when he was a juvenile.
  • 2015: Taylor was charged with robbery and given probation
  • 2016: Taylor violated that probation when he was charged with aggravated burglary and was sentenced to a year in jail.
  • 2021: Taylor was arrested after he and another man fired a gun into a car on Dickerson Pike in East Nashville. He was charged with aggravated assault.
  • May 2023: He was released from custody after three court-appointed psychologists deemed him incompetent to stand trial, but also found he didn’t pose an imminent threat to himself or others.
  • Sept. 2023: Taylor was charged with auto theft and released on bail, but an arrest warrant was issued for him last Friday when he failed to show up in court.

There are more crimes on his rapsheet but it’s impossible to list them all without turning this into a mile-long post. The guy is the definition of a career criminal.

Now a young woman is dead, and the only reason this bastard might finally get isolated from society is if there’s enough of an outcry. Of course, the people who like to complain about gun violence will stay mum because they aren’t interested in this un-PC kind of gun violence. This is also the majority of gun violence in this country but we aren’t supposed to know that we can get randomly shot while jogging by a guy that is too much of a victim to pay for his crimes.

Shaquille Taylor, the murderer, is only 29 years old. Imagine how many more people he can victimize in his life.

So let’s give even more thanks that we are not the morons who are hiding from these news reports because they contradict a convenient narrative.

Give Thanks

It’s a true story. The guy ate people. A veritable Russian Jeffrey Dahmer who was pardoned by the great defender of Christian values Putin.

On this Thanksgiving Day, let’s give thanks that we aren’t the morons who think there’s anything Christian about Russia.

Movie Adventures

Has anybody on here watched the new movie “Napoleon”? Is it worth seeing?

From the trailer, the actors looked a bit too geriatric for the roles but it seems like a new fad to star actors in their dotage in roles they aged out of decades ago.

The new movie I am looking forward to is the prequel to Hunger Games with a convoluted, forgettable title. The book was seriously better than the Hunger Games series, and the trailer gives hope that the movie will do it justice.

Terror At the Northern Border

Let’s wait for more details but the pictures from the site are very disturbing.

Midlife Crisis

I always wondered how my midlife crisis would manifest. Unexpectedly, it turned me into a Ukrainian writer, and this will never stop being funny.

God, I wish my father were alive to see it.

Cover Art Suggestions

What do you, friends, think that the cover of my book Contemporary Spanish Literature for Ukrainians should look like? I have zero ideas.
