A New Page: An Announcement and a Question

I just created a new About page for the blog. I have noticed that whenever I alight on a new blog, the first thing I do is read the About page. And it’s kind of weird that I have no About page of my own. So I created it and you can take a look right here:

About Page.

I also have a question for those who are not experiencing an autistic fugue right now. Do you know what I need to do to move the pages around on a WordPress blog? Right now the About page is the last one, and I want to make it the first one. So how do I rearrange my pages? I’ve been trying to figure it out for 15 minutes but my mind is a complete blank.

  1. There’s something called sticky posts, but I haven’t tried that and don’t know how it works. The ‘about’ page in WordPress is separate from (not before or after) the blog stream. The “about page” that stands apart from the posts can be accessed from ‘pages’ in the sidebar to the ‘dashboard,’ which should be the first item in the pull-down menu under the name of your blog, when you’re logged in, and have your own blog displayed. The ‘about Clarissa’ page that you reference above appears to be a page created in this way, because there is no date in its URL.

  2. Ah, the answe is here. When you go into “edit” for one of your pages under “pages” under “dashboard”, on the right side of the screen there’s a box called “page attributes” in which there’s a little box called “order” which defaults to “0”. Based on a few quick experiments, it seems to work as advertised, with the higher numbered page going to the right.

  3. When I saw the title “An Announcement…” I thought you had a different kind of announcement to make. You know, the one related to your posts on daycare costs and big city living. 🙂
But this is a nice announcement too.

    1. I open every conversation with relatives with, “I have some news to share but I’m not pregnant.” So maybe now I need to start every post with, “Not pregnant but wanted to share the following. . .” 🙂 🙂

Not yet, people, not yet. I’m still thinking, and I’m a very slow thinker. 🙂 🙂
