Folks, I have been trying to figure this out for a while. Maybe one of you can help me. You know this leather that is very very soft, pliable, and very gentle to the touch? The kind that feels almost buttery. Does it have a name to distinguish it from other types of leather? I’m searching for a product online and I don’t want to end up with this tough cardboard-like kind of leather.

I think lambskin is generally softer than calf leather.

This is not helpful, I know, but I think that soft leather is not so much from the different animal, but from a softest parts of its body, like belly.

I think you have in mind full-grain leather, likely with aniline finish. My sofa is like that — looks natural but is soft, almost velvety under fingers.

I don’t know it’s name in English, but I think you mean what is called “ante” in Spanish. It’s just normal leather (no difference in the animal or in the part of the body) treated differently and you can get something simmilar and cheaper by using leather upside-down. I will check a dictionary and be back-!
